Did you know?
18 people each day needlessly die due to the critical shortage of organs for transplant. And 1 in 4 people will benefit from a tissue transplant in their lifetime. The need for organs and tissue is one of the very few healthcare problems we have a way to solve. The need for transplant affects men, women and children of all ages and walks of life. What’s more, virtually anyone can become an organ/tissue donor. As a registered organ and tissue donor, just one person can save and enhance the lives of 25 people.

Why do I need to REGISTER as an organ/tissue donor?
On January 1, 2006, Illinois passed a law creating a donor registry that eliminates the need for potential organ/tissue donors to have family consent. The Illinois Secretary of State’s first-person donor consent registry will ultimately save many more lives, but in order for your donor wishes to be honored, you must join the Illinois Organ/Tissue Donor Registry.

How do I register?
The easiest, fastest way you can register is online at www.DonateLifeIllinois.org. Registration only takes 30 seconds. You just need your state ID or driver’s license number and must be at least 18. When registering, be sure to indicate that you heard about the registry through your workplace.
